Sanctuary Events is family owned and operated by Nancy and Mark since 2019. After opening the venue, they knew they wanted to create a stress-free planning process for their couples. Allowing family and friends to enjoy the day and not have to worry about the behind-the-scenes.
They have built a team of individuals who are thrilled to have a small part in your big day. “We realize there are no do overs for your wedding, and our team is committed to putting their best foot forward in making it magical."

Meet Your Team
Nancy
Nancy has always had a vision for hosting elaborate parties. No matter the occasion, the celebration was always intentional and well thought out. When the historic building in downtown Plainfield became available, making a portion of the space an event venue was a natural decision. As founder of Sanctuary Events, Nancy is hands on in operations, from tours to the wedding day. In addition to her passion for working with clients, Nancy has added in-house floral and design options to help reduce stress in the planning process.
Mark
The backbone of Sanctuary Events. The building engineer that works behind the scenes to ensure a safe, efficient and reliable space. We could not run Sanctuary Events without Mark. In addition to keeping the space well-maintained, he is the one responsible for building all of our beautiful tables, the bars and the epic large wooden arbor.
Shelly
Director Of Events
Shelly has worked with Sanctuary Events for 4 years. She works directly with couples from the moment they tour and book to their final review meeting and even works (most) wedding days. Shelly manages the team and is your go-to person for all your wedding venue needs. She says the curtain pull will ALWAYS bring tears to her eyes. It's her favorite part of wedding day.
Jessica
Bar Manager
Meet the heart of the bar! Jessica has worked at Sanctuary Events for 5 years. She manages our elevated bar program with a focus on service, execution and every detail that enhances the guest experience. Jess also facilitates in-house catering with Sovereign. Her favorite part of wedding day? “The energy of cocktail hour and of course seeing the couple right before the procession begins”
Christian
Event Lead
Christian has worked with Sanctuary Events for 2 years. He has recently taken on the role of Event Lead. Christian’s goal is to create a seamless, memorable experience for couples and their guests. When asked, “What’s your favorite part of wedding day?” He said the atmosphere. Because every wedding is different and its incredibly rewarding to see everything come together and be apart of such special celebrations.
